Finding a Childminder
Before you start looking for a childminder we recommend that you take some time to think about what sort of service you will need. You may find the following leaflet helpful:

There are many ways to find a childminder:
Family Information Service can provide you with a list of childminders with vacancies. Information and advice is available via the freephone helpline on 0800 195 0137. The service is open Monday –Friday 9am to 5pm. An answer service is available at all other times. They can also provide you with information to help pay for your childcare and advice about your rights when returning to work, including guidance on maternity/paternity entitlement. You can visit the website at www.childcarelink.gov.uk/lancashire
You may also wish to speak to the Childminding Network Co-ordinator at Duke Street Children’s Centre on 01257 276253, for a list of local childminder vacancies. You can also email cath.palser@lancashire.gov.uk
We are not able to endorse or recommend individual childminders, but would recommend that you make your own checks by contacting the FIS and asking the childminder to see their Ofsted Registration Certificate.
Free childcare places now available
Ask Cath Palser, the network coordinator for details.
